No Worries, Snake Island is absolutely snake-free. This island got his name for its snake-like beach shoreline. When on low tides, you’ll see its long white and soft sandbar fully exposed. On high tides, most of the island’s long sandbar submerged underwater. The Island consists of two parts. The southernmost part of the island is covered with mangroves while the northern part of the island got the famous beach: a two-kilometer powdery white sandy shoreline.
Depending on the conditions, Snake Island is reachable within an hour boat ride from Sta. Lourdes dock. This place offers visitors a variety of attractions.
For photographers this is the perfect place to capture the perfect sunrise and sunset. Lovers can find romance in this picture perfect location and serenity for the tired souls. The island is also a great place for beach volleyball and other water activities. But the main attraction is snorkeling and diving so don’t forget to bring your snorkeling and diving gear. They marked good diving areas with buoys where the boat will drop you off. But also closer to the island you can discover colorful starfishes and hundreds of fishes hidden on sunken sea rock’s crannies of its reef. The island is also known for its amazing sizes Yellow-fin Surgeon fish.
Their lives no locals on Vigan Island (the local name of Snake Island) but there are a few cottages or huts you can use for picnic and rest. There are also small stores which sell snacks and drinks. It is possible to get a massage right on the beach. If you want that just ask around and you’ll meet the island’s team of massage therapists.
