Islands Puerto Princesa

If you want to explore the Islands near Puerto Princesa you need to visit the Honday Bay area. Honda Bay lies on the eastern shore of Palawan and is host to a number of islands and sand bars. Honda Bay is easy to reach, just a 45 minute drive to the north the island’s capital city Puerto Princesa. When you arrive at Honda Bay, you can see it is surrounded by exotic smaller islands. This makes this place perfect for island hoppers, beach lovers and divers.

You can explore the area around Honda Bay by yourself or you can book the Honda Bay day tour package if you don’t have any heads-up on your island hopping itinerary. It is easy to book those trips by your hotel or the tourism centers around. These packages include the famous sandy white cowry beach of Cowrie Island, the disappearing and reappearing sandbars of Luli Island, the magnificent starfish’s home Starfish Island, and the floating platforms of the Pambato Reefs.

How to get to the Honda Bay wharf?

When you are planning to visit the surrounding islands of Honda Bay you need to go to the Sta. Lourdes port. You can get to the port by getting transportation from Puerto Princesa. We suggest you to get a round trip to the wharf to avoid the disappointment of waiting long for your ride back home. Another suggestion is to buy your needs before leaving Sta. Lourdes port because prices for food and drinks and the rental fees will increase by 30-40%.

The best way to start your Honda Bay exploration is by getting to the wharf early in the morning. When waiting at the quayside of Sta. Lourdes, it gives you the opportunity to witness the spectacular sunrise with beautiful colors.

What will it costs

You can hire an organized boat trip in Honda Bay for about Php 1100 – 1500 ($25-35). This price does not include the registration and environmental fees and the entrance fee for the tourist center.

The nearest islet is an approximately 15 minutes boat ride. When you want to visit the farthest islet, it will take 50 minutes.
