Bacuit Bay is basically a group of islands that are all clustered together in an area that is only surrounded by nature that is still raw and untouched at its core. Bacuit Bay is a truly amazing site for anyone who loves to see beautiful things, feel beautiful, lively, and connected to all the priceless treasures of our beloved Mother Nature.
Bacuit Bay is all about the islands, the marble cliffs, white sands of the enormous beaches, spectacularly calming lagoons, the enchanting waterfalls, the mangrove forests, the deep jungles, the ancient caves that consist of blinding darkness, and of course, the crystal clear waters of the sea that flow all around the islands of Bacuit Bay. There are more than thirty diving sites in the waters of the islands, each of which may range from about six meters to more than even thirty meters in depth. The beautiful, cool waters of the sea are also home to a diverse selection of marine life which include the threatening-looking manta rays, the beautiful coral reefs, the “todugongs”, the fascinating turtles, and the occasionally visiting white sharks.
Among the many islands that make up the Bay of Bacuit, the more prominent and popular ones are Pangulasian Island, Cadlao Island, Vigan Island, Dilumacad Island, Cudugnon Island, Matinloc Island, Pinasil Island, Ille Cave, Aberan River, etc.
Bacuit Bay is a site that not only holds very strong interests due to its beautiful landscapes and cool waters, but it is also a site that has a great value to people who are interested in anthropological activities of the ancient residents of the older world. Many traces of human involvement have been found in Bacuit Bay, some examples are- pottery and jewelry that go back to 960 CE and all the way to the 1279CE- all part of an Era which is known as the Song Dynasty. The anthropologists who studied these discoveries claim that the things have been produced by people who originated from the caves in Borneo, and came all the way to the Palawan Islands from there.
This place is full of rich cultures and customs that are still celebrated after all these years. Many different kinds of tribes can be found in these islands, and each of these tribes are still following their traditions and living as their customs and cultures allow them to live. In a world where everything is influenced by one or another, visiting a place that does not try so hard to fit in with the rest of the world is pretty refreshing. Bacuit Bay is surely a place that will open the doors of light to you and bring joy to your life, so this place is definitely a must-visit for anyone regardless of whether they are nature lovers or not. What Bacuit Bay is, can never merely be described by a selection of words; nothing can match the actual feeling of being there in the middle of it all and breathing the unpolluted, salty air of the bay area.

The Bacuit Bay Islands
Bacuit Bay is very famous among nature-lovers and people who like to study the animal and the plant kingdom to find more unique and rare species of organisms, as Bacuit Bay has a large collection of places which present a wide range of diversity of all kinds of living organisms widely found in the open, natural ecosystem of the many islands and the islets that make up the structure of The Bacuit Bay Islands.
Most of these islands have no population of living organisms living in them- they are inhabited and represent the beauty of the completely raw and untouched nature. The clear blue waters of the sea are full of marine animals like turtles, coral reefs, turtles, manta rays, many unique species of fish, etc. There are many islands that you can go to and explore about completely freely.
There’s the Cadlao Islands, which is known as the largest island in Bacuit Bay. It covers an area of land of about 10.06 km2. You will be able to take a boat from the nearby town and go to the Cadlao Islands with a guide, if you are lucky enough to get one. The Cadlao Islands have the highest peak among all the islands in Bacuit Bay and it goes up to 640 meters above the sea level. Walk barefoot and carefree along the long, white sandy beaches under the sun and feel the warmth of the beautiful, glittering sands of the beaches and trail down the gradually sloping floor of the sea for a swim. Dive into the hidden lagoons and trail along the caved path that goes through the forests of the bay and discover a new world of your own. The ways to some of the lagoons, for example, the Makaamo Lagoon, are surrounded by mangrove forests on both sides and have the most calm and peaceful vibe about them. If you go there, make you visit sometime around the sunrise or the sunset to experience the best view of the beautiful area and to get the most charming outlook on how good the environment is during these times of the day when the birds begin to fly and flowers begin to bloom.
Cadlao Islands have many beaches, some of which include Paradise Beach, Natnat, and Bocal Point, all of which are surrounded around the southern side of the Cadlao Islands. You can also indulge in snorkeling activites in Sabang Beach at the northeast region of the island. This place- the Sabang Beach, has also been featured in numerous travel magazines and has been broadcasted in the popular Scandinavian television show called the Robinson Expedisionen.
Another must-visit island for tourists is the Dilumacad Island, which is a treat on its own with its beautiful sandy beaches that stretch up to 300 meters and are the perfect places to host a special picnic out with friends during the island-hopping trips. Deep down, hundreds of feet below the water, are underwater tunnels that lead up to a reef on the southern side. The Dilumacad Island is also known by the name of the “Helicopter Island” because of the resemblance of its limestone cliffs with the shape of an actual helicopter when looked at from a considerable distance.
Then there is the Matinloc Island which is the longest and the slimmest island in all of Bacuit Bay. What makes it more perfect is the sinkhole, at the base of which, you will be able to find a pocket of white sand which is completely surrounded by steep rocks and is completely impossible to reach without the help of boats and due to the rocky texture of the stones and pebbles. To reach the pocket of white sand, the diver must make the jump himself and swim across to get to the small entrance that allows a gap into that anticipated area. If you stay in the opening during the evening, you will be able to see a fabulous play of orange light that the sun uses to play around with the nature once it is on its way to retire for the day. The island is so beautiful and mesmerizing that Alex Garland, the author, had been inspired enough to write a book on it called “The Beach”, which he had written whilst he was enjoying the nature in full blossom in nowhere other than our very beloved Bacuit Bay.
The most famous beach of the Matinloc Island is the Secret Island, but besides this, we have Kulasa Beach which measures up to a length of about a hundred meters and is mainly a beautiful white sandy strip of area which is located at one of its coves. The floor of the sea that surrounds the slopes are very steep, going gradually down to a depth where the water is as deep as 10 meters under. There are four main diving sites around the Matinloc Island and the deepest of these goes down to about 40 meters down into the water.
Pinasil Island is an island that looks just like a cavern that has a cathedral-like quality about it. The cavern can be reached by the use of dinghies or kayaks only. The interior of the cathedral is lit differently at different times of the day due to the difference in the sunlight concentration that reaches the inside of the cavern. The place glows up beautifully and never disappoints the visitors. This place is also one of the most important sites during the time of the year when the birds come to nest and lay eggs.
These are a few of the most important and the most visited Islands in Bacuit and if you want to explore more, beyond this then here are the names of some more beautiful islands for you to check out- Pangulasian Island, Cudugnon Point, Vigan Island, the Entalula Islands, The Miniloc, The Simizu and many more.
The Bacuit Bay Beach guide
The whole of the Bacuit Bay is basically a huge archipelago of beautiful islands which are accessorized with the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world. The limestone islands are always accompanied by the spectacularly decorated narrow paths leading to many mysterious sites inside the island. There are, be aware, not many wild animals living in the forests of the island and so you are free to roam around without the fear of being sprawled by a tiger halfway into your expedition. You will find, in your journey along the beaches, many hidden caves and “secret” lagoons that are still untouched by any human activity. The animal kingdom in the beaches of Bacuit Bay includes many foreign and unique birds, lizards, and many other rare variations of known species of animals.
You can take a boat from El Nido and float your way to some of the very beautiful beaches of Bacuit Bay. In some places of the beaches, you can find small huts which are there to provide you with a resting place that has a shade on top under which you can relax and take a break from the sun and the walking. You can also find some, temporary stores in some of the beaches that offer water, light snacks, smoothies, and sometimes even alcoholic drinks.
While you are walking on the hot, pure white sands of the beaches, you might get off-track so be sure to stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on where your group is going to avoid getting lost in an unknown place. Although, it is hardly arguable that going off-track is deeply satisfying and always an experience that is worth taking the trouble for. Not suggesting that you should go astray and set up on your own voyage in the island, but as long as you have an idea on which way the rest of the group will go to, be sure to follow your heart and check things out as they pique your curiosity. Furthermore, if you are a beach person and are planning to go “beach-hopping”, then we would recommend that you start with Nacpan Beach.
Nacpan Beach is a pretty deserted place in Bacuit Bay, that is, away from all the chaos and beautiful in the richness of the nature it beholds. You can take a tricycle, as many do, to reach the Nacpan Beach from El Nido as they are pretty close. Many people say that Nacpan is a spectacular place that reminds them of the Boracay Beach. Nacpan Beach does have a beach resort which, if you are lucky, might be quite deserted in some seasons of the year. The fewer the people, the more peaceful will it get for you- it is a true sanctuary to heal your body, mind, soul from the bruises they have to endure in order to survive and thrive life in the busy cities. The shores of Nacpan are sometimes quite deserted, which is great for people who want to be alone on their own and it is great also for archeologists who visit for investigation and are in need of a place devoid of too much human interruption. Nacpan might be a little deserted, but once you get there, you will not regret having chosen this place, because here you can feel like you are at the top of the world and all of the land and waters that hold up in your view all belong to you.
Such heavenly peaceful a place that is bathed full in its own natural beauty is very hard to find and it provides a great escape for your stressed out mind. These is a great place for relaxing and de-stressing from all the worries of the world and take care to renew oneself with a new perspective and prepare for a new beginning. The water around the beach is always at a very pleasantly warm temperature in which you can submerge half of your body and stay in frolicking around, for it is a great natural spa that is all natural and highly pristine.
There are many other beaches in Bacuit Bay that are worth visiting and will definitely blow your mind away and it will no doubt be the experience of a lifetime, so if you find yourself in Bacuit Bay then you must visit as many beaches as possible to get the true essence of an archipelago, that too, as popular as the Bacuit Bay. Some recommended beaches for you to visit besides Nacpan Beach are: The Duli Beach, Hidden Beach, Ipil Beach, Natnat Beach among others. Be sure to give these beaches a visit as they are purely natural, devoid of any chaos of the presence of a mass of people and are the very best representations of what the Mother Nature is all about. Whenever you set out with your plans to visit the Bacuit Bay beaches, it is a good idea to take water, a few snacks and a good camera with you, since not all beaches have beach stores where you can buy this stuff from.
