Atwayan Beach is one of the most popular beaches to visit in Coron. Atwayan beach has gorgeously fine white sand that blends beautifully into the pristine and deep blue waters by the shore. The beach of Atwayan is not widely stretched, and therefore great for visiting for a few hours. It is best to come at a time when there are no other visitors. When you arive at a popular time, you have to share the beach with other groups of travelers. Due to the fact that the beach isn’t that big, the beach loses some of its charm
How to Get There
The only way to get to Atwayan Beach is by boat. Like the other beaches, you may directly rent one, or get there and avail of a boat through an island hopping tour of Coron. It is not very far from the town proper, so you do not have to worry about it taking too long to get to.
What to See and Do
The beach is not very big, but there are still a few things to do and see.
Relax in a cottage Since there aren’t many activities to engage in on the beach, one could rent some of the available cottages upon visiting. This way, you have a shaded place to rest and relax in, as well as eat in. Take a nap, take in the view, read a book or eat in the shade of the cottage.
See the jellyfish By the rocks of the cliffs towards the edges of the beach, you will probably find several transparent jellyfish. If you have a local with you, they could even get them from the water and show them to you. If you are brave enough, you could try holding one yourself – with help from a local, of course.
Go snorkeling With the beautiful marine life available and the relatively shallow waters, Atwayan Beach is a great site for snorkeling. Always remember to have some protection on your feet to protect from sea urchins, and be careful of jellyfish by staying further away from the rocky areas.
